Principals Cody Lodi and Todd Mayne led a group of professors through Northlake Commons as part of the Timber Architecture Development Workshop.

It’s always a good day when we get to talk about timber and the benefits it can bring to the built environment. We recently had the privilege of welcoming architecture instructors from across the country to Northlake Commons as part of a four-day Timber Architecture Development Workshop hosted by Think Wood and the UW Center for Timber Innovation in the Built Environment (CTIBE). CTIBE advances mass timber through research, education, and community partnerships, connecting students, industry, and communities to develop more sustainable and resilient housing and infrastructure.

We had some great conversations and answered questions about the ideas behind the design, as well as timber’s beauty and biophilic qualities. These faculty members are helping shape the next generation of architects and builders, and we hope those conversations will inspire more students to think deeply about timber’s role in the future of design.
