Watershed was honored by the Young Voices Selection panel at the 2022 Honor Awards for Washington Architecture.

Watershed was honored as the Young Voices Selection (YVS) at last night’s AIA 2022 Honor Awards for Washington Architecture! The three YVS panelists, Alyssa Mitchell Assoc. AIA, NOMA (Weber Thompson), Mariel Dougoud (Perkins&Will), and Nikki Sugihara Assoc. AIA (Wittman Estes) each shared, and we’re grateful for their words and this award.

As the Young Voices Panel, we prioritize the significance of the values we are elevating through the selection of this award. We believe this award embodies the next generation of design thinking in Seattle and beyond…”

– Alyssa Mitchell Assoc. AIA, NOMA (Weber Thompson)

“The architects demonstrate the ability of a project to improve the climate through the capturing, cleaning, and reusing of the polluted water runoff from the Aurora Bridge above…We see this building as a role model for the future of architecture.”

-Mariel Dougoud (Perkins Will)

“We believe that this project does a great job addressing the public ground level by taking the otherwise single functioning sidewalk and making a place for people to pause and gather. There is now an ecological choreography between tourists, locals, wildlife, and urban infrastructure that makes up the Seattle streetscape.”

– Nikki Sugihara Assoc. AIA (Wittman Estes)

AIA Young Voices Selection is a program with the aim to engage and elevate the voices of young designers through direct participation and representation in AIA Seattle’s Honor Awards for Washington Architecture.Congrats to the entire project team and everyone involved who brought this project to completion! We couldn’t be more proud to call this building “home.”
