Aaron Swain

Growing up in Wisconsin down the street from a number of Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian houses, Aaron has been interested in architecture since high school, but took the long way around. Before attending graduate school at University of Oregon (UO) in Eugene, he studied German Literature at the University of Wisconsin and Albert-Ludwigs-Universitat in Freiburg, Germany. After graduating in 1997, he spent a few years working in finance, publication, and finally construction work (single-family & multi-family/office), while taking a nomadic route to Seattle via Colorado and Utah for some epic winters on the slopes.

Since graduating from UO and moving back to Seattle, Aaron has developed and refined his interest in residential architecture with experience in master planning, urban, mixed-use, and sustainable design, technical documentation and coordination, and now high-rise construction. Since joining Weber Thompson, Aaron has been intensely involved in Pike Motorworks and Solis in Seattle’s Capitol Hill, as well as Ballard Blocks II in Ballard. His passion in architecture can be found in projects that relate to urban density, usually including some aspect of mixed-use occupancies, restoration/renovation of existing structures, and/or sustainable design. Aaron is a board member for the South Lake Union Community Council, and has regularly led guided tours with the Seattle Architecture Foundation for over fifteen years.
