Project origin
In Old Town Las Vegas, the original downtown core, a transformation is taking place. The vision of the late Tony Hsieh, former CEO of Zappos, Downtown Project reimagines this area as a hub of inspiration, entrepreneurial energy, creativity, innovation, and discovery. In the district’s heart one particular development solidifies the downtown project’s success: Fremont9. The largest new residential development to hit Vegas’s downtown since the great recession, it provides much needed housing for the people who live and work there.
Design and materials: A focus on arts & culture
The design of the common and amenity areas draws inspiration from a focus on arts, culture and community. Graphic patterned carpets and wallcoverings as well as creatively repurposed materials are used throughout. The common areas materials are inspired by the creative spirit of the neighborhood – Corten steel and large-scale custom murals echo its arty, gritty vibe.
