Ben Hait

RA, NCARB

Ben’s interest in architecture formed early, shaped by civic buildings that balanced imagination with public purpose, from a small library in Mountlake Terrace to the Seattle Public Library’s ambitious reinvention of the urban reading room. Growing up with a Deaf brother further attuned him to how the built environment mediates communication, access, and social life. These experiences continue to ground his architectural approach, especially his focus on form, clarity, and inclusive design.

Energized by the investigative side of practice, Ben excels at navigating complex constraints, finding clarity in the details, and turning analysis into coherent, buildable strategies. He brings a particular interest in material intelligence and how construction systems shape architectural experience. At Weber Thompson, he applies this mindset to multifamily and mixed-use work, supporting design execution, coordination, and the firm’s collaborative culture.

Ben is a licensed architect in Washington and New York with a background that spans both practice and academia. He has practiced in New York, Boston, and Seattle, contributing to institutional, cultural, and housing projects. In parallel, he has taught design studios and seminars at Wentworth Institute of Technology, Northeastern University, Brandeis University, and other institutions, and led a study abroad program in Urbino, Italy. Ben has also taught a graduate design studio at the University of Washington and remains involved in the UW design community.

Outside the office, he is usually on a trail run, tracking the Seahawks, or exploring Seattle with his husky.
