Stephanie Farrell’s previous career in mechanical engineering has given her a solid platform in spatial reasoning and technical know-how. Working at IBM in product manufacturing and later in technical sales at General Electric, Stephanie felt fulfilled but was never entirely passionate about the products she was designing and selling. So in 2013 she jumped ship and dove into the Master of Architecture program at UW, eager to follow her original dream of becoming an architect.

While in school she worked with Professor Gundula Proksch, who inspired her to learn about urban agricultural systems and to investigate how the built environment can enhance and improve communities. This was the path through which she discovered Weber Thompson.

For the last three years, she’s been working on North Lot, an affordable housing project that will provide housing, daycare, and community services for the northern Beacon Hill neighborhood, and is currently keeping busy with Construction Administration for the project. She is passionate about solving Seattle’s homelessness/housing problems and volunteers for BLOCK Project and Plymouth Housing whenever possible.

 At home, Stephanie spends time with her family (her three children and elderly Shiba Inu keep her busy) but finds as much time as possible to run, cook, hike, grow vegetables, and hang out on her houseboat.
