Wolf Saar, AIA, LEED AP leads Weber Thompson's Senior Living studio consisting of Architects, Interior Designers and Landscape Architects focused on projects for an aging population. In addition to a variety of independent and assisted living projects in the Northwest region, he oversees numerous complex developments throughout the greater Puget Sound. Mr. Saar brings a wealth of knowledge and experience managing projects ranging from senior housing to commercial renovations to high rise mixed use developments.
A former principal at Seattle-based Mithun, Mr. Saar was responsible for several high-profile projects including the renovation of Seattle's venerable Smith Tower and early design guidance for the recently completed 2200 Westlake, a major mixed-use project in Seattle, and the expansion of the Seattle Aquarium. While there he managed the design of various independent and assisted living complexes in Seattle and Minnesota, including high-rise and mid-rise projects.
Mr. Saar, a Washington State University graduate, is active in the architecture community. He has served on the board of the Seattle Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and led the National AIA Continuing Education Audit Review Committee, which establishes continuing education standards and rules. Mr. Saar is also is an active member of the WSU School of Architecture and Construction Management Professional Advisory Board and an invited speaker at both WSU and the University of Washington.
Mr. Saar works from the belief that integrated project delivery, involving the owner, architect and contractor team from the very start of a project, results in the best design possible. A LEED Accredited Professional, he is a strong proponent of sustainable design. Mr. Saar is active in Aging Services of Washington, the Northwest Universal Design Council and the American Institute of Architects Design For Aging committee. He serves on Seattle's Capitol Hill Neighborhood Design Review Board and is a member of the Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce.
