
The Commons at Sweetwater — Hailey, ID
The 5,211sf community building for Sweetwater sits at the edge of a large shared park for the development and provides a space for residents to gather, socialize and participate in activities. The building contains a great room with a fireplace, exercise rooms for classes and group activities, a hobby room, and a computer room for children, as well as the management offices for the homeowner's association. Daily interactions with neighbors are encouraged by placing all mail boxes together at the community center as well. The building's design is reminiscent of farm buildings and was created to reflect the agrarian nature of Hailey's past and the character of architecture in the surrounding neighborhood. This building is pursuing LEED NC Silver
Specified energy efficient heating and cooling equipment, lighting, kitchen appliances and low-e windows so the overall energy performance is 20-30% less than a typical building of its size.
Board siding from logs salvaged from the Great Salt Lake.
Used materials including lumber and stone that has been extracted, processed and manufactured within 500 miles of the site for a minimum of 20% of the total materials.
Provided bicycle storage and changing rooms, and preferred parking for low emitting and fuel efficient vehicles.
Incorporated native plantings to reduce need for water and fertilizers.
