Avenue Bellevue will set a new standard for hospitality and residential design in the Pacific Northwest region.

A new NW destination

Avenue Bellevue contains two highly sculpted condominium towers with over 300 luxury residences and a robust mix of high-end retail, food and nightlife – including a new restaurant from a three-Michelin-star chef. It will also be home to the areas first luxury InterContinental Hotel with 251 guest rooms, a full-service spa and fitness center, and ballrooms and meeting spaces connected via a glass sky bridge. The retail podium features a mix of materials and facades, all inspired by worldwide retail trends but grounded in materials local to the Pacific Northwest.

A pedestrian lifestyle

The pedestrian esplanade was an integral part of the project – not only does it connect two of the busiest streets in Bellevue, but it also branches into the alley, breaking up Bellevue’s “super blocks” to create a more pedestrian friendly and manageable scale. Throughout the new “woonerf,” large open-air plazas, lush landscaping, water features and five-star retail and dining are all woven together into a unified expression that will create a true Live/Work/Play destination. Layers of retail, hotel and residential seamlessly blend at the podium, raising above the street with stairs and bridges to allow continuation of the pedestrian realm at grade.

Sculpted forms

Fortress Development tasked the Weber Thompson team with creating a tower that was truly bespoke, one of a kind, and unlike anything in the Pacific Northwest. The concept of serpentine forms and playful geometry were developed on day one, creating a constant sense of movement – from their emergence in the streetscape to their culmination in the sculpted wave forms of the deck. The wave forms, themselves wrapped around a curved massing, were designed to create usable exterior space for every unit, while at the same time feeling fluid and dynamic. The second tower, although more subdued, maintains the curved central mass. Both towers terminate with matching crowns.

“With Avenue I want to create something that’s artistic and beautiful and thought-provoking. Something worthy of this great city that I call home.”

Andy Lakha, Fortress Development

“This urban oasis will be a place for people to relax, converse and hang out with friends and colleagues while enjoying the lush landscape, dynamic water features, and the fine food and beverage.”

Blaine Weber, Architect

“The hotel tower will elevate luxury and sophistication to new heights for locals and visitors alike, and redefine the downtown Bellevue neighborhood.”
