WOLF SAAR APPOINTED TO DESIGN REVIEW BOARD
Wolf Saar AIA, LEED AP, a Principal at Weber Thompson, has been appointed by the Seattle City Council to the Capitol Hill Design Review Board. Along with others on the Board, Wolf will play a significant role in the way new Capitol Hill developments look and fit into the surrounding neighborhood.
In a public meeting with Councilmember Sally Clark and the Planning, Land Use and Neighborhoods Committee, Wolf stated, “I am really encouraged by the quality of design that we're seeing on Capitol Hill now, particularly the Pike/Pine corridor, and I see my role as assisting and helping proponents get their projects efficiently through the Design Review process. Time is money to developers and helping them make the right decisions early on is how I can best help them navigate the process.”
There are seven design review boards in Seattle. The board that reviews Capitol Hill projects will also cover projects on First Hill and the Central District. The Boards are responsible for working with developers and the city planner to ensure projects meet zoning requirements and community design guidelines. It is a public process where the proposed plans are discussed before the Board and interested community members and then approved or sent back for modification with guidance from the Board. The Board is also responsible for the approval or denial of Design Departures requested by the developer. The volunteer positions last two years, at which point a member may be reappointed for an additional term.
