Landmark Seattle Project Tops Out
Fifteen Twenty-One Second Avenue, the Weber Thompson-designed landmark condominium tower next to Pike Place Market, has reached its full height of 440 feet.
As the premiere project developed under Seattle's updated downtown zoning code, Fifteen Twenty-One Second Avenue is the first tall-and-slender residential tower in downtown. The updated code encourages this type of building.
"We're honored to be part of this signature high-rise residential tower, which is the first tangible example of downtown Seattle's dramatic future skyline," said Blaine Weber, AIA, Weber Thompson's principal-in-charge of the High-Rise/Urban Projects Studio.
"The market has validated the design of the tower," added Weber Thompson Principal Dan Foltz, AIA, LEED AP, and the lead designer of Fifteen Twenty-One Second Avenue. Of the 143 homes in the 38-story high-rise, only five remain available for purchase.
The first residents are scheduled to move in starting in December 2008. Fifteen Twenty-One Second Avenue will be completed next spring.
Weber Thompson has a commanding presence in the design of downtown Seattle high-rise towers projects. Currently the firm is working on 11 other towers.
