John Howie Steak House Restaurant & Bar — Bellevue, WA
John Howie Steak is a modern take on the classic East Coast steakhouse with a distinctive northwest angle. Weber Thompson’s interior designers combined the elegant feeling of fine dining with a rustic, western slant incorporating weathered metal accents in the lighting and woven metal screens and distressed wood furniture.
The restaurant moves from a sophisticated yet casual piano bar, through a “see and be seen” runway with booths for more intimate dining, and a larger dining area with adjacent private dining rooms. Local artisans and suppliers provided much of the lighting and furniture including a 14-foot-long red elm table created from salvaged wood for one of the dining rooms.
