The Weber Thompson Office reflects the company's commitment to sustainability through numerous design strategies such as day lighting, low flow fixtures, and a reduced use of materials. However, it is the office inhabitant's dedication to sustainability that makes all the strategies work in concert.
Weber Thompson's employees are constantly searching out ways to reduce the environmental impact of our daily operations. We have offset our 2007 carbon emissions for our travel and operations by voluntarily planting over 460 trees in local parks. We collaborate with third party printing companies who hold themselves to high environmental standards. We use eco-friendly office supplies such as 30% post-consumer paper for our large drawings, and rapidly renewable Eucalyptus paper for our copier machines, recycled binders, and soy based inks. Even our new job signs are biodegradable.
To reduce automobile use, employees are provided with free transit "flex" passes and in-office showers to promote biking to work. A group in the office is also working towards Seattle's Bike to Work month, with bike maintenance workshops, and competitions between floors for who can log more bike miles within the month.
Sustainable Design is not marketing strategy at Weber Thompson; it is a way of life. We consider ourselves lucky to have the empowered, motivated staff who have focused sustainability both inward and outward; making it part of their architecture, planning, landscape, interior design, daily work and life.
