Erik Doran still remembers walking down the corridors of the architecture office where his mother worked when he was a child in Alaska. Walking amongst the drawings and models, he knew that he needed to become an architect.

He made that childhood dream a reality by attending Montana State University and earning his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, and went on to become licensed in the State of Washington. For Erik, it is the process of deconstructing a building into tiny details that really excites him. He believes that the overall aesthetic is important, but the details make it special.

In 2004, he began competing in triathlons, working his way up to his first long-distance event in 2010. He continues to compete and loves the team aspect of training, the variety of landscapes he gets to visit, and the mental challenge that training and competing provides him. To fuel his athletic passions, he grills copiously and frequently makes Thai dishes in his wok, which are fired over his BBQ. His two grills live on the outdoor patio that he built last summer.
