Edmonds Green — Edmonds, WA
Edmonds Green represents a new vision for traditional auto oriented highway retail development. A redevelopment of a surface parking and retail pad land-use pattern, this project brings retail, office and housing together on one site. The project is organized around a central open space, a village green that opens the site to water, air and light. The uses are arrayed in a pair of stacked mixed-use buildings as a backdrop, and a set of free standing single story buildings forming a buffer from traffic noise fronting SR-99. The development recognizes the transitional state of transportation in Seattle and provides structured parking for all uses. Some surface parking is provided as a convenience to shoppers, arranged around the central green space. The project creates a sense of place to organize retail uses ranging from a large grocery store to small retail shops. As in a traditional village, the type and size of the retail spaces provides more opportunities to visit, shop, and stay at Edmonds Green.
